Salida, CO to Wyoming

Colorado turned out to be a hard, but rewarding section of the CDT. The views were awesome, but afternoon thunderstorms would often throw a monkey wrench into the hiking and force us to either wait out the storm or to drop down off the trail. I still had a really good time in Colorado. Awesome mountains and good company. I managed to summit Mt. Elbert, the second highest mountain in the contiguous United States, in between the thunderstorms. In Silverthorne I also got to reunite with Maverick, my namesake from the PCT, who came up from Denver. Good times in Colorado, but definitely glad to finally reach the halfway point and cross into Wyoming on July 22nd. Out of the montains and back into the desert I go.
